Relationship between risk factor and skin cancer in Vietnam

ABSTRACT

The skin cancer is common among cancers. There is a trend of increasing skin cancers. In 2002, an estimated number of skin cancers in United States were 1.3 million cases. In 2006, there were about 3.5 million skin cancer cases. In Australia, skin cancer was 3 times higher than other cancers and about 1% of its population with skin cancer. In recent years, the number of skin cancers increased in Vietnam. The risk factors of skin cancers have been studied in some countries. Risk factors are exposed to sunlight, heavy metals, chemicals, X-ray and so on.

Results

Results shown that men with skin cancer were two times higher than that in women; smokers had 2.9 more times of skin cancer than that in people without smoking; people working in the sunlight had 1.7 times higher than that in people working in the house; people working more time in the sunlight had more risk of skin cancer and people exposed X-ray had skin cancer 2.5 times more than the others.

Conclusion

Risks of skin cancer were men, sunlight working, smoking and exposure with X-ray
